Degussa’s Natural Extracts plant in Trostberg, Germany, has been fully certified for the production of organic extracts. Degussa plans to develop organic flavor extracts, including green tea flavor and organic peanut aroma. The goal is to offer conventional as well as organic variants of the most important extracts. Degussa uses supercritical fluid extraction via CO2. CO2 technology ensures the end products are free of residue and solvents, and preservation of active ingredients and their efficacy. It also allows for 100% natural flavor extracts without process-derived artifacts.
